Even as Republicans pitch their plan to roll back some of the so-called "Obama Care" health reforms, many of the plan's changes begin today. GoHealthInsurance.com explains that reform changes will not be effective for all individual health insurance or group plans immediately, individuals can purchased new plans today with the following protections:
Free preventive care. Consumers who use preventive services can save on copayments and out-of-pocket costs by purchasing a new policy that provides preventive care at no-charge to the consumer.
Extended coverage for young adults. Have a child that isn't covered by your policy? Children can stay on their parents' health insurance policy until the age of 26 -- providing a more affordable option for children and parents then purchasing an individual policy.
Guaranteed coverage for children with pre-existing conditions. Children under the age of 19 will be guaranteed coverage regardless of their medical status.
Lifetime and annual limits on health insurance coverage are now eliminated. Health care reform eliminates lifetime and annual limits on new policies. This means that consumers who become sick and need expensive medical treatments will be protected from going into medical debt.
New rights for consumers to appeal health insurers' decisions. There are new rights for consumers who want to appeal decisions made by health insurance companies. In cases of denials, consumers can ask for an external review process to challenge a decision.
