Escalade, F-250 pickup & Infinity G37 most stolen

2008-escalade-2 So you’re shopping for the ideal vehicle for your family, and you have your checklist all ready to fill in. Safety…check. Cup holders…check. Accessibility…check. Performance…check. Theft rate…HUH? That’s right, you have to include theft rate on your criteria for many cars, as it has a dramatic impact on insurance rates – and can get inconvenient if it happens to you. The Insurance insurance Institute for Highway Safety released a report Aug. 3, 2010, through the Highway Loss Data Institute that lists the 2007-2009 Cadillac Escalade SUV, Ford F-250 Super Duty crew cab pickup, and Infinity G37 sport sedan as the top picks for thieves taking vehicles one to three years-old.

"Sedate family cars and fuel sippers aren't on the hot list," says Kim Hazelbaker, HLDI senior vice president. "Thieves are after chrome, horsepower, and HEMIs."

Once the best-selling SUV in America, sales have faded in recent years from economic and competitive pressures. This new Explorer shares its platform with a number of vehicles, including the Taurus sedan and Flex SUV, as well as Lincoln MKS and Volvo XC90 SUVs.
